Why You Should Buy a Digital Camera and Ditch Your Old Film Model?

Why You Should Buy a Digital Camera and Ditch Your Old Film Model?

For many people, photography is a wonderful hobby meant to create memories of a life well spent. For others, it is more than that; for these people it is a passion that enables them to capture beauty, emotions, truth and even ugliness in all its forms. For both, the camera is an indispensable tool. The advent of digital cameras was a vast improvement over the old film models. Though for some, old film cameras were more challenging and therefore, presented an opportunity to determine their expertise, the digital camera made taking great pictures relatively easy for the majority of us.
It is a pretty good assumption that all of us have handled a digital camera. Some of us even can’t remember using a roll of film to take pictures. In the old days though, a roll of film was necessary to make the old cameras work. From the initial stage of having the intent to capture images, digital cameras already have the advantage. You don’t need to run to the store to get a roll of film which provides a lot of convenience. This means you won’t miss family album-worthy moments as the digital camera is always on the ready to capture anything you want. Also, you can take a lot of pictures with it, not really worrying if you have any film left. You can buy a memory card with a lot of space in it for hundreds, even thousands of pictures which you can then transfer to a computer at your convenience.
Digital cameras eliminate expenses on wasted shots. All of us have experienced taking lousy pictures we wouldn’t want to keep and with a digital camera, we just have to delete it. With the old models, this means additional expense because you’ve used your precious film on no-good pictures. If you’re willing to go to the trouble, you can develop the pictures yourself. Even inexpensive digital cameras can give you high resolutions which allow you to get excellent photos you can keep for a lifetime. Best of all, the cost of digital cameras have dropped and some are even cheaper than high quality film cameras. This means you can easily justify this expense as a necessity and not just an excuse to splurge.
So, if you’re still using a film camera and are on the lookout for a new one, a digital camera is a practical and sensible choice. Of course, anyone can see the advantages of a digital camera but if you’re still holding on to the vestiges of a bygone era, perhaps it’s time to move on and take advantage of the technology available to you.
